RE: [RC] [RC] tendon injury rest--stall vs pasture - Mellifluous CochranWhen my mare had a tendon injury, my vet and my farrier told me to keep her out on pasture while she healed. They told me that she would heal on stall rest but would not heal as well and would be miserable to boot. They explained that keeping a horse confined while healing a tendon injury can cause the torn tissue to reknit in a more rigid fashion and would open the horse up to more probable reinjury in the future. They said that allowing one freedom to move would help the tissues heal up in a more flexible manner and the area would heal up and be stronger and less prone to reinjury.I don't know if that is hog wash or not, but I thought I would share. BTW - have not had any more problems out of that mare with her tendon. _________________________________________________________________ Tease your brain--play Clink!
