Re: [RC] FEI rules - Barbara McCraryHow utterly depressing! And all this time, we have been praising the efforts of all riders to finish, no matter where. Goodbye to the idea of riding at your own pace and having a good time. Well, I guess that wouldn't apply to an endurance championship in world-wide situations, would it? Lud and I had the pleasure of riding through the Austrian countryside in 1985 for 100 miles. We would have missed so much if the rules were like the ones being proposed.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Truman Prevatt" <tprevatt@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Smith, Dave" <dsmith@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: "Lynn White" <lynndeepoo@xxxxxxxxx>; "steph" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 2:11 PM Subject: Re: [RC] FEI rules It was talked about sometime back. Basically the race is over after the first so many, say 10 horses finish - or some set time, say 1 hour after the first horse finishes. At that point the vet checks all close and the horses that are on the trail come on in. It may be that only 10 horses finish the whole course. Sort of like NASCAR - it's over when the winner crosses the finish line. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
