Re: [RC] [RC] Spiffy new look to the website! - D'Arcy Demianoff-ThompsonWe have WildBlue as well. Love it.... it runs us about $49.00 a month. We probably have the basic package whereas Barbara might have the next package up for larger upload and download packets. We do get throttled back a bit with the fair use policy. But it is nothing compared to the dial up speed fiasco. D'Arcy --- Barbara McCrary <bigcreekranch@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: If one cannot have DSL, by all means have satellite installed. It costs me about $60/month, but I could NEVER go back to dial-up. I've been quite happy with Wild Blue, and I'm sure there must be other companies. Inthe new format, alot ofthe photos are small, which was never the casebefore. I am lucky to haveHigh Speed internet finally, but I can rememberthe days of dial up..notfun..when it comes to your area, you will love it.Have you consideredsatellite? I know it is pricey, but I have severalfriends who like italot. Not meaning to be a bah-humbug person......butperhaps taken withconstructive criticism.... Some thoughts from a website addict andshop-aholic.....1. I'm still having problems establishing myaccount for an ad placed...soI can pay; I am sure this is a glitch that willget fixed.2. The new set up of the classifieds willcertainly curtail my dailyperusing.....I guess being in the dark ages withplain old dial up. it'spainfully slow to view ads. Before, I could justscroll down andspeed-read and scan ads...reading all the adsprobably in less than a fewminutes...and could get all the pertinentinformation in an instant. With the new format...given the titles arewhatever; you can't tell if a ahorse is old, young, how tall, etc. All that showsup on the main menu isprice and location...so I would have to click oneach title;and wait forit to load...to even see if it's a horse I want toread about....then waitto go back to main menu....maybe having a few morecategories would help, just giving age of horse, gender and perhapsheight.......? (this beingconstructive criticism) On the tack ads....only one thing may be listed inthe title, while morethings might be in the ad....so unless I click oneach ad individually, Ican't see everything that is there....again, withdial up,this could takehours!!!! Just my opinions....I liked the format of the oldads with just a link forphotos.....so that if the ad was nothing I wasinterested in, I could justavoid the photo download time. Oh well, I don't need to be looking at horses ortack anyway!Karen ----- Original Message ----- From: Alissa Norman To: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2007 6:19 AM Subject: [RC] Spiffy new look to the website! Wow, John and Steph! You go home for a night, come back the next day,and BAM! Whole new website look! If you get ridecamp via email, go toendurance.net sometime and checkout the new look. The only thing I don't like, John, since I readthe archives, is thatthe colors of posts "read" and "unread" are verysimilar (purple vs.blue) so it's a lot harder to distinguish what Ihave already read. Thanks for all your hard work in keeping theendurance communityinformed!
