[RC] Hi-Tie - Lysane CreeI have been reading through the archives but still have a few questions. I am going to buy the Hi-Tie and want to know whether they still come with bungee ties (in other words, do I need to modify it)? Karen, you mention using velcro in your setup, does the velcro come with the hi-tie or is that your own idea? I'm wondering what type of velcro...run of the mill stuff or is there a specific type/strength that you use? Also you mentioned that you use a cotton lead rope with a bull snap...is it just me or is it rare to find bull snaps on leads? I always see just the regular snaps shaped kind of like a question mark with the small piece you slide down usually with your thumb. :) Until now, I have been tying to the side of the trailer with a nylon trailer tie - panic snap on the trailer, bull snap on the halter. The trailer tie comes in two pieces with two D shaped
metal rings where the length of the tie can be adjusted. Not sure if I put it in wrong when I adjusted the length but the one time my horse got scared when some loose horses went running by - she jumped and gave one hard pull back and the nylon tie slid right out of the D ring - so she had one piece still attached to her halter and one on the trailer. Luckily I was right there and she didn't take off. Are most trailer ties made like this? After that I tied a knot in the trailer tie at the D-ring so that it wouldn't come apart. I'd rather tie solid and cut the whole thing than have my horse go thundering through camp like those other horses. So I want the best possible set up for my hi-tie and my horse. She only has one introductory ride season behind her, but I practiced tieing and camping before even starting to compete. She is not a puller, but I don't like using bungees. Any ideas and help would be appreciated.
