Re: [RC] Branding - Barbara McCrary

Horses have much more sensitive skin than cattle.  A horse will be shredded by a barbed wire fence...a cow will plow through it and never even get a nick or a drop of blood.  Some horses, including mine, as so sensitive to prickles that they become very upset when passing through thistles or nettles (particularly the latter.)  Cows would never even feel them.  So, one cannot compare the two animals for skin sensitivity.

After reading this,  people will come back and say, " but horses and cattle aren't like people. They have thicker skin. They don't feel it like we do." And the saddest part is they actually believe it. As long as people continue to convince themselves this does not hurt, they will continue doing it.

Very sad.
