I believe that branding hurts, but I also would
give my child vaccination's to prevent disease. The child is traumatized and in
pain for a while then it is forgotten. I myself have had voluntary surgery in
which I was in pain for 6 weeks. Given a choice of pain that will go away to
losing my horse to thief or my child’s life I'll take the pain. It's all about freedom of choice.

Oh they will...I get that excuse all the time. And I do not believe any state requires us to burn the flesh of our animals till it scars for life. It could be required to provide some form of ID maybe, but I cant imagine it is required to burn them... Id have to see that in writing to believe that one.
I don't think anyone has really said that branding is pain-free or pain-less. Just saying that in many states it is necessary and required by law.
