[RC] The hay situation - Kristi SchaafAccording to my hay supplier (I'm in Iowa), prices are the craziest he's ever seen, and he's been haying for a living 'forever'. He apologized profusely that he needs to charge us $4/bale this year (50 lb straight grass bales that we go pick up right on the rack in the field, the cheapest way to get hay since it's more like $4.75 if he unloads and stores it). That's a jump from $3 last year. He said that his grass/alfalfa mix was sold BEFORE he even baled it, and went for $5 to $6 a bale. This kind of price may seem ok or even low for those of you in areas where hay supply is always precious, but in the hay-rich midwest, people are used to paying $2 to $3 a bale, so this is sticker shock! Kristi Life's a journey, so enjoy the ride (and try not to fall off) ____________________________________________________________________________________ Need a vacation?
