Re: [RC] 30 minute rule - rides2farAny comments other than my own regarding Diane's suggestion that the HR be down within 30 min. however the horse has 60 min. from completion to vet through? Seems like it could accomplish what both individual rules do not! Vet checks are run very differently in the SE than in the West from what I've seen. They seem to come in and head for a water tank and pulse takers kinda wander around and offer to take their pulse. They could get their pulse and have it on their card without ever leaving their crewing area, but couldn't get their time till a pulsetaker was available. Then the vet was down the hill a ways and they went down when they were ready. At a SE ride you walk into a roped off area, past an in-timer and call out your number. They write it down the second you cross the line into the pulse area. The next available pulsetaker takes your pulse and if it's down they record the time *that you walked past the in-timer* (doesn't matter of you had to wait 4 min. for a pulsetaker). At that time you exit directly into the vet check area. There is not an exit to go back to your crew area and do whatever for another 30 min.
