Re: [RC] 30 minute rule - Lynne GlazerAFAIK, that's an FEI style vet check, Angie. Some of us in the west use the pulse box method but the riders do NOT exit to the vet area, it's either optional or the vet has dictated that they don't want to see anyone until nearer the end of the hold (or after 30 minutes time has elapsed.) The pulse box is a wonderful way to handle a lot of riders that arrive at once with a skeleton staff of volunteers or one sprinkled with less experienced pulse takers. Lots of differences...we're not nearly dousing our horses the way you guys do (and I understand why) and hence don't necessarily have crews. I've had a crew maybe five times, and what a wonderful luxury it is. Then maybe we have more volunteers at our rides who can hold a horse when nature calls in the middle of a crowd, but they're usually not the ones hauling gallons of water to meet the riders. Seems like it could accomplish what both individual rules do not! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
