Re: [SPAM] [RC] Native or Feral? - Truman Prevatt"For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong." H. L. MenckenThe Eastern Red Wolf is being reintroduced - it will probably be a failure. This doesn't have much to do with man - it has a lot to do with the Coyote. It seems the common coyote has worked it way East since the hey day of the Eastern Red Wolf. The Red Wolf doesn't want much to do with civilization - the coyote doesn't mind it. The Red Wolf and Coyote are not cross breeding and the cross is much more suited to the habitat that currently exist in the East. The Red Wolf as a unique species will most likely disappear in any numbers and the hybrid Coyote/Wolf cross flourish. Mother Nature seems to have only two basic laws. The first - the law of "least action." Any system will reach equilibrium in which all forces are balanced. (be if physical, chemical, biological, economic or social ). However, over time the forces change (and yes man is part of that equation) - as does the equilibrium. To force the equilibrium back to what it was in 1890 for example you have to first apply forces to force the equilibrium back to that point then you have to manage the forces so they don't become unbalance from that point on. This is where one runs afoul of old Mother Natures second law of thermodynamics (increase in entropy). In its most basic stating this defines the arrow of time and that arrow of time cannot be turned around. The whole issue of native and non-native is a typical example of when politicians try to find a simple answer to a complex issue.
