Re: [RC] Membership forum??And Mike Maul's point. - Chrystal WoodhouseO.k. Bruce I will work on that.:-) :-) It is going to be hard though, when my horse comes up lame I tend to give her a whole lot of months off to recover...:-( It just is not worth a $2.00 ribbon to me to put her long term well being in jeopardy, but maybe I can change.:-) Just for the record as I did go check out my AERC record and it does look like I ride too fast , however that idea is so crazy that I just laughed . I conditioned my horse for 4 year at LD"s and CTR'S before I tried a 50, then made sure we were last for the first few, none of that shows up because as I didn't join AERC until last year, my first of 50's I just paid the daily entry fee ( yes I paid more that way...I 'm a horse rider not an accountant.:-) Anyway in 5 years of competing her in various long distance rides we have had one RO pull( I missed trail and didn't want to go back out), we only have 600 miles ( you can check that out at octra.on.ca under mileage) so are still on a huge learning curve and that is why I read RC. And I do know how change occurs..... a few people make it happen while everyone else stands around complaining that no-one listens to them!!:-) Chrystal :-)
Dear Chrystal-- Jim Holland mentioned: "Chrystal, no offense, but when you have been around AERC a little longer, you will learn how “change occurs”. Give it a few more years, a lot more time on this forum, and a lot more miles and you will understand. Seems you’re doing a lot of Top Tens for a newbie….be careful out there." Jim feels that a lot can be known about a rider's knowledge and ability from a cursory review of their ride record, and I would have to agree. Not until you have to your credit ride seasons of 35%, 50% and 63% completion rates, or three consecutive pulls for lameness in less that 90 days can you really expect to understand how meaningful change occurs. Or the depth of some folk's commitment to horse welfare. No offense, of course. Dr Q
