Re: [RC] [RC] My recruitment - Floyd ReidBorn 1933, family says that I wasn't born on a horse, but pictured in swaddling clothes, a couple days later. Rode horses to country school in Eastern Colorado, first 9 years--no saddle.Began breeding Arabians in 1959 with RAHYM #8398, 1961 Natl Top Ten (#3) Stallion (Bay Abi #1, Fadjur was #4). About 1966 Sharon and Mary Lynn brought to breed a big, boney, ugly mare who produced a colt that they later campaigned in endurance in Oklahoma. About 1972, a Californian drove to our home in Oklahoma to buy Halim Sebastian our *Ansata Ibn Halima+ 2-year old colt. Blinding snow storm kept him from "seeing" the colt. But he raved about *Thabit, my SE Park Horse, wanting to take him to CA to condition and "do Tevis" or have me come out to ride Tevis. Wish I knew who that Californian was. In 1995 when our son set up practice in Bishop CA, we brought out *Thabit's grand-daughter and great grand-daughter Thalima and Teplima. Tom did a few 50's on Teplima. We moved to Bishop CA, in 2001, bringing the next generation Hadima, *Thabit's great, great grand-daughter. Started riding with Don Harris, Al Chinn and Dick Dawson while they conditioned their endurance horses. I had Hadima ready to debut at CoSo Junction a few months later but she was diagnosed with EPM. So I located GA Alexander in Colorado, brought him to Bishop in April 2002, rode him 12 times. Dick Dawson said he was on his way to NASTR on 6-8-02, "come do the 50 with us"...we finished in a time of 9:39. Have finished a couple of 50's since. (Hadima recovered and did CoSo 11-10-02 at 7:36) Thanks, Dick Dawson, it's been fun. Floyd Reid
