For my
part, I believe that we should be talking about all of these issues but on a
national level. it would be nice to have some learned discussion on these
subjects with out the intervention of extreme personal
feelings.
I do
not agree that there is a serious problem with in the AERC aegis. I believe that
we have a reasonable system in place and we are seeing improvements. On the
International level, it is a different matter. Of course any system can benefit
from improvement, no matter how small the advances. Therefore it behooves us to
enter into definitive discussion of the issues.
One of
our main problems is that in this country, contrary to some other parts of the
world, horses are considered companion animals and not livestock. While a small
differentiation to some, it becomes paramount in the minds of others.

might be nice to talk about some of the issues - ?
horse fatalities and low completion rates and treatments happen in AERC too.
or do you consider that acceptible in non-FEI rides? FEI is committed to
protecting the sport which equates to protecting the horse. Like it or not
endurance is a sport which is pretty hard on horses...
The
issues are the same. how to ask a horse to carry us many many miles without
harm. and some people even race. how to do so responsibly is a question for
everybody, at all levels of the sport.

True, but you and I both know that most board
members do read ridecamp...even if they don't post. Therefore, they DO
know...they just choose to ignore.

First,
any message must be sent to the Board of Directors and not to RC for the
Board to take notice! Second, dissatisfaction with out an alternate
solution is often times ignored as just plain bitching from the troops.
Third, what can one expect when AERC-I is 7% of the total membership but
is 58% of the Board?
