Re: [RC] More Whoa Needed - Quentin & Libby LlopI think that you can actually do more damage to a horses mouth with a lighter bit ( snaffle) that they are running through. A bit that works well for me and that I send almost all of my rental hunters out in is a rubber pelham. On the snaffle rein it is kinder than a snaffle, which is good with folks that clutch and hang on the mouth and the curb rein is there when you need whoa. On my first Florida ride my son's big OTTB ran with me in a snaffle and it was not an experience that I care to repeat. I didn't get her slowed to a trot for 45 minutes! Libby Addendum for Quentin: Check her teeth. A horse with a mouth already sore from a sharp tooth isn't going to notice a bit, harsh or mild. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
