Both are herd animals, but cows don't have a pecking order. Cows don't have a need for personal space. They are perfectly happy being crowded into a truck, standing with their heads level with their backs, which is where they usually have them anyway due to their conformation. Horses on the other hand, have varying personal space requirements, depending on their position in the herd and other factors. They have long necks, and get very stressed when crowded together, and forced to travel in close proximity to horses they don't know. jeri
Another thing to remember: Horse owners want their horses treated better than cows. Cows are routinely shiped in large trucks and few get upsed.
