You better believe it. In the '70's I lived near MPLS, MN. I had a horse that needed to be put down. At that time there was a horse slaughter operation in the area. I called them, found what day they were slaughtering, brought him in, he was weighed, and run up the chute. His total time there was a matter of minutes. The employees were also quite respectful. By the time I needed to have a horse put down again, the nearest plant was in Texas. There would have been a stressful, cross country trip etc. Not a viable option. Another thing to remember: Horse owners want their horses treated better than cows. Cows are routinely shiped in large trucks and few get upsed.
