Re: [RC] vet check questions - Truman Prevatt

Hey all. I am going to do the Whiskeytown 25 in April. So, the V/C is out of camp and I'm wondering about pre-soaking my beet pulp in my crew bag. I figured I would mix my beet pulp mush with water in ziploc and send this to the V/C. Is there a better way? Or something I'm not thinking of? I know if it's hot the BP can go sour but, I don't think it will be that hot. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Send it out presoaked in a bucket with a top. You can even use duct tape to affix the to top the bucket ;-) . Another options is send it out unsoaked and as soon as you get in - throw it in water. By the time you get through the VC it will probably be wet - it really doesn't take BP that long to soak. You can actually feed it dry. A quart of soaked beet pulp will absorb about a quart of water at most. That BP absorbs water from the gut is an old wives tale and a horse drinks more than a quart in one short drink. They probably suck down a gallon in a good long drink.
