A blanket statement. Is Joe's true interest in protecting children or putting himself in a win/win situation? I think it is the latter. From here on in, if by chance a child is injured on an endurance ride, Joe can always say "I told you so." Joe wins. Joe likes that. I held off for a while on making a statement like that, because I knew some would take it that way. Now, how about commenting on the truth of the observation, rather than my "Machiavellian motives?" Our lives are obstructed by threats of litigation, rules, regulations, limited choice, more rules. Parents want and deserve the right to have a choice. Indeed they are. I agree that the U.S. has far too many rules, regulations, and laws; I am a Libertarian politically. However, I am not an anarchist -- I understand that some rules are beneficial, and some are necessary. In a democracy, we all get a say in what those rules should be -- that's what we're doing here. No parent has a "right" for their child, or even themselves, to be accepted at an event sanctioned by a private organization, if they don't meet that organization's rules. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
