My 26 year old Arabian gelding was not eating yesterday and had a fever of 104 degrees.   Lab reports following the veterinarian's visit last night diagnosis ehrlichiosis, a tick borne disease. While he is expected to recover after drug treatment with a tetracycline-type antibiotic. I regret that I did not protect him prior to the tick season with some of the tick preventative medicines on the market. I hope my experience may be a warning for others to take some precautions.
