In one case, my horse was dragging his tailfeathers by the time I reached the river, so I unsaddled him, he rolled in the river, got up and shook himself, I re-saddled and we took off up the trail. That dip in the river refreshed him so much that it gave him a whole new lease on life. The second experience was simply that I rode my horse all the way across the river and climbed out on the other side, bypassing the bridge all together.
