I pretty much agree with Truman on this one.

How athletic and quick they are (to move or bend laterally) has to do with 
conformation
(joint articulation/angles) and the type of muscle tissue/fiber they have..  
Power comes from the rear engine
and then size does matter.  I used to think it had to do with weight and the 
center of gravity.. untill many horses proved that theory wrong.

That's why a Fjiord can't jump the moon like the the eventers bred for 
performance.
