RE: [RC] timing of gelding - Jo Ann KnightJust sticking my two cents worth in about the walking to help with drainage and swelling. I had to use ice bags due to being unable to walk enough just before I got my first knee surgery. I gelded mine at three, was taught it best to let them develop the body awhile. I don't know if this was really necessary. He wasn't difficult, never acted study till just before being gelded. To compensate for the lack of sufficient walking I used ice on him for 20 min at a time. He actually even held his back leg up one time when I seemed to have problems adjusting, forget the exact circumstances (I thought it must have looked hilarious). I asked the vet if ice would work. He said it would but i'd get kicked and he didn't recommend it. Well I did it anyway and it went well for us.
