I’ve been using GrandHoof from GrandMeadows since the early
spring. It takes about 6 months or so to really see the quality of the new hoof
growth, and I’m really liking what I’m seeing on all three of our horses.
GrandHoof has 20mg of biotin per 1 oz serving. Other
ingredients include: 3,000 mg dl-Methionine, 1,500 mg I-Lysine, 250 mg Zinc, 25
mg Copper, 20 mg Vitamin B06 (as Pyridoxine) and 1,250 mg Diamond V yeast. The
base is a soybean meal with a bit of molasses. Cost per serving (for a 25-pound
bucket purchased through Healthy As A Horse) is $0.46. We offer free shipping
on 10- and 25-pound buckets of any of the Grand Meadows products.
There are so many equine nutritional companies out there to
choose from. One reason I settled on GrandMeadows is that they test every batch
of product to ensure it matches with what their label states the product
contains. If the batch does match up, it isn’t sold. They’re also a
founding member of the National Animal Supplement Council.

Hoof Supplements Revisited
We use the Paragon Biotin Plus,
recommended by Susan Garlinghouse. It has
the most biotin in it. It
contains 50 mg biotin per scoop...the container
recommends 1 scoop per day, but
Susan noted that horses will simply pee out
any in excess of 20-25 mg, so we
give 1/2 scoop per day …
