Re: [RC] colic clarification - Barbara McCraryI lost a gorgeous 8-year-old mare, 5 months in foal, to a twisted intestine. She had never been broke to ride, but I had that in my plans after she foaled. I owned her only 12 days. We were gone on a multi-day ride when it happened and we came home to an empty paddock. I never even had a photo of her..... It must have been an excruciating death, as it started during the night and by the time our daughter came to feed in the morning, called the vet and he was able to come here, she was gone.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Long" <jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Ramy Jisha" <mywalkinghorse@xxxxxxxxx> Cc: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 24, 2006 3:17 PM Subject: Re: [RC] colic clarification I lost a beautiful endurance prospect, the only horse I ever had born to a mare I owned and that I raised from a foal, as a two-year-old to a twisted intestine. We hadn't even begun riding him at all yet, only some light ground work, and one day we found him dead in his pasture. The autopsy showed a twisted intestine. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
