Re: [RC] Barbaro - Diane Trefethenhttp://news.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=34464This article says, "Richardson, who has treated Barbaro since the colt shattered his right hind leg a few yards after the start of the Preakness Stakes on May 20, said..." "Shattered" gives the impression of a virtual explosion of the leg. Did the leg fail that totally or did it sustain just a single fracture or were there multiple fractures and "shattered" was just hyperbole? Regardless of the degree of failure, does anyone here have thoughts on the cause of such a breakdown? Genetically deficient? Insufficient conditioning? Diet deficient in the nutrients to build "strong teeth and strong bones"? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
