Neighbor down the way has 80+ polo ponies, and she
uses roundbales of Coastal Bermuda. Last year, we had hay skyrocket in price, so
we bought round bales, and I pitchforked the hay off of them to feed each day,
instead of putting bale out in field. You will have some waste. I could not
afford any waste as the bales were about $70 each for 900 - 1000 pound bales.
Usually they are about $30ish in our area for good ones.
I understand they have bale rings that are for
horses, as to cattle. I think the horse ones they don't reach through, where
they would rub their mane out. Lots and lots of folks in our area use round
bales for horses.
