Re: [RC] Prineville Barefoot! - now Tevis - Jonni----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue Walz" >>>> I plan to glue & nail plastic shoes on Raven for Tevis. That's what we did in '04 & it worked great. With Raven's gaits boots & nailed shoes fly off easily. The plastic shoes are less bulky than boots so less stumbling. You want a sure footed horse on the Tevis trail!<<< Oh, I fully understand that, which I guess is why I was curious you were not doing the same protocol at Sunriver, as you would do at Tevis, just to make sure the horse is still good in that method of hoof protection. I know I am not going to do anything different at Tevis as I normally do with my horse. We used standard steel shoes, no pads etc. last year, and worked great. So we'll go with that again this year. Boots at Sunriver are problematic in that they'll be full of sand in no time. Same reason I wouldn't boot on the beach. <<< I wonder how Karen Chaton keeps sand out of her Epics. I know she has shown photos after a ride with a lot of sand, and they are clean inside. See you at Tevis!
