RE: [RC] Prineville Barefoot! - now Tevis - Sue WalzHi Jonni,I plan to glue & nail plastic shoes on Raven for Tevis. That's what we did in '04 & it worked great. With Raven's gaits boots & nailed shoes fly off easily. The plastic shoes are less bulky than boots so less stumbling. You want a sure footed horse on the Tevis trail! Boots at Sunriver are problematic in that they'll be full of sand in no time. Same reason I wouldn't boot on the beach. Sand is ideal barefoot footing. Anyway, the more miles you put on bare the tougher the hoofs become. ~Sue Walz & Raven
Curious what you plan to do for Tevis, since they also require hoof protection. If you are using boots there, just wondering why you would not try the boots at Sunriver to make sure you have any and all of the bugs worked out for 100 miles.
