I use a couple of really good wound medications. I used to
use Schreiners but didn’t like the isopropyl alcohol base and its
inherent sting. Now I use Healing Tree’s Tea Pro Wound Spray. It has a
lot of the same ingredients (goldenseal, myrrh, comfrey, aloe vera etc. plus it
has tea tree oil and is in a water base). It works beautifully on proud flesh
and it doesn’t have the sting caused by the alcohol.
The other product I’ve used is VetAg Wrap. It’s a
contact wound dressing that’s medical-grade nylon coated with 99% pure
silver. Silver has natural antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. It works
on proud flesh, is easy to apply and is a great item to carry in a saddle bag
and first aid kit.
I’ve also used both these products on myself and it’s
proved to be a great, comfortable, effective combination.
