Shorter rides that include a couple of hours in the dark. That's the part that offputs me the most, b/c I don't see well in dark and don't know how to trust my horse. And like with sailing, practice night rides can desensitize the vestibular mechanism that causes motion sickness. I'd like to see more "moonlight 50's" that start in the evening and run overnight. I used to manage one of those, the "Moonlight Madness" ride in Bankhead National Forest in Alabama. It was a really fun ride. I don't manage rides any more, though, mainly due to the non-member fees. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
