[RC] "natural" stamina/FT horse care - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Ray O'Donohue rno2m@xxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Recent article by a friend made the point, indirectly, that our field trial TWH's/MFT's must have and apparently do have a good innate/genetic level of stamina-because they are worked hard, and do so well, with no systematic concern for fitness on the part of their owners. They are not abused, but they are using/transportation horses;a means to an end rather than an end in themselves. If their schedule of work/rest/etc from time to time is conducive to fitness and health, that comes about simply by chance. He mentioned deep chests, plenty of bone, etc, and the 200-250 lb load most of 'em carry.I'm no advocate for neglect, but no doubt the crummy treatment saddle horses lived through in the old days made for good genetics today. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
