Re: [RC] a sad story for AERC? - Laney HumphreyEd, I really like your last sentence! It's always better to be open minded and willing to learn, no matter how many years of "experience" one has! And you're also right that it is very easy to talk big talk. Being out on the trail, actually doing a ride, is the real test. I think Amber was trying to express her concern and frustration that this guy seems so determined to do what will surely hurt his horse in spite of having been urged to go more slowly. For all we know, his horse will have better sense than he does and call it quits pretty early!Laney Ed Kilpatrick wrote: well, amber, it sounds like this guy is more of a talker than a doer anyway. hopefully, that is all he will do is talk, and not run his horse in the ground. from what i have learned, there are some people that spend a lot of time, energy and effort talking about what they COULD do, instead of really doing it. internet chat rooms/online discussion groups enable some folks to make up stories faster than frank hopkins during happy hour. instead of bragging about kicking arab butts while riding his racking horse (or whatever it is), he should wait until he actually gets out there and finds out what this sport is really about. he may not be capable of kicking any butts except his own. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
