[RC] 100 miler awards and Warner Hot Springs ride - sandy . l . holder


Tammy and Charlie are a lovely and well deserving couple (and I'm somewhat jealous to not be in the southern california awards program - being in northern ca is probably one reason though).  I too finished my first 100 miler this past season and am closing in on my first 1000 miles (should be 955 after this past weekend).  

As to the Warner Hot Springs ride, well, since I really want to do it next year and there's a limit to riders, I guess I shouldn't open my mouth and tell everyone how totally spoiled we were.  Hot showers and hot springs to soak in, breakfast, lunch AND dinner on ride day, not to mention how many helpful volunteers there were on and off the trails. . . .  WOW does not cover it quite appropriately.  Definitely made the drive from Gilroy, CA down there worth it with my virgin (at an endurance ride) husband.  Speaking of which, thanks to Peggy and Bob Eaton - and their shots of tequila, he had his first (and second in as many days) hangover in 10 years!   He had fun playing golf the 2 days we were there and I got out of it what I wanted (he really wants to make my LQ shell into a real happening cozy/warm place).  We had ice on the water buckets the morning after the ride - that is until it warmed up enough to put our SHORTS on!  Beautiful ride, oops, I'm not suppose to be saying how terrific it was an all given that only so many riders get to do the ride.  In any event, we made it home safe and sound with a happy horse.  You'll remember us as the ones that peed at every vet check (I was SO PROUD of him)!!!    Got to ride with the famous "Catfish" Daniels - what a great story on how he got his name as well as Tim (. . .) a neat farrier and all around nice guy.
