Re: [RC] Horse Slaughter - Barbara McCraryJust out of curiosity, what does everyone think is the answer to overpopulation by wild horses? I believe there are far more of them than the land can handle, and I've seen the wild horse corrals full of unwanted horses. Only so many will be adopted. In the meanwhile, your tax money and mine is being spent feeding these horses.Would someone put forth some solutions to this problem...not emotional ones, but sensible ones? I would be interested. We raise cattle. If we have aged ones that are no longer productive, we send them to market. Cattle have personalities, just like horses. Why is it we can accept sending a cow to market, but not a horse? I love all animals, and I have loved horses all my life; it just seems that there has to be a sensible solution to the problem of 1) overpopulation of wild horses, and 2) what to do with a horse that is aged, crippled, or no longer useful. Not everyone is capable of supporting worn-out horses, either spatially (I hope that is a real word) or financially.
