Prednisone/solumedrol will make you fat. Advair will not. The steroid is in a tiny dose delivered right to the target organ, pred is a steroid used in large dose to your total body. I'm an athsmatic who has also had pred for my back. I have actually just lost 55 pounds, all while on the advair.?
While on prednisone, I'm moody, hungry and depressed. Advair does nothing but help me breathe. I've been on it for years. I'm also a nuclear medicine technologist/radiologic tech, and I've experienced the same with my patients.?
I take the 250/50 advair and the dose is 250 micrograms of inhaled steroid. Contrast that with the up to 60 of prednisone you could find yourself on. That's a lot of decimal points. You should be able to take Advair with no problems, which is great because it is a great drug combo. I never had controlled asthma in my whole life until this new breed of athsma drugs came out. I spent a lot of time in ERs before advair, been about 9 years since I've had a full blown attack-thanks to advair.?

PS-just remember to check the dose and where it actually goes. micro compared to milli and delivered right to the target, thereby bypassing the drug in a large dose to your whole system.
I've been on short steriod treatments and when I told my doctor I gained tons and looked like a hamster he advised me to radically cut down on salt while on them - made a huge difference!!

In a nutshell, I am an ultra distance? athlete with a? back ground? in marathon, triathlon and? Ironman.? I have taken? advair for asthma? for 12 years. It has cortocosteriods in it. I have also taken the dreaded prednisone? steriod off and on? and the last time was for 6 solid months? until about 5 weeks ago. I am? currently? at? 177 lbs instead of the 155 i want to be at. re steroid use: 1. My gp said, hey your not obese, and you are getting older. (49) and she is obese btw 2. my pulmonigist said, advair is safe and does not make you fat. He is either foolish or pretty stupid. exhibit one- the recent settlement between Glaxo Klein and the FDA involving advair and new warnings? on it. 3. My endocronigists said"I dont know, If? I knew that stuff I would have? my own island in the? Bahamas, lets make sure you dont have a brain tumor.
I have tried and am trying to understand the effects and? treatment for long term steriod use.? I will share any information I have and? please you do the same.? What type where/ are you on?
