I have a friend here in CA who has a horse who itches all summer.  She 
bites at herself and rubs until she's raw.  Susan keeps her covered from 
head to tail to toes to prevent her from soring herself.  She uses the 
big Cashel mask, a large fly sheet and leg wraps.  It gets very hot 
(upper 90s - low 100s) where the horse is but she survives.
