RE: [RC] what do you take to a ride? - Rae CallawayYou know, I did this, but since I got the new trailer, which I couldn't park at the house, I've gone to more rides and been missing things that I never thought to pack because it was always in the trailer! Rather than respond with a personal list, I'll add my packing method. We have a heavy-duty rectangular plastic clothes basket that contains every grooming item, spare anything we might want, etc. that gets packed at the beginning of the year and then just stays in the trailer and gets "maintained" as needed. We also have a set of blankets, etc. that "lives" in the trailer all season--if an item doesn't get used at a specific ride, it stays there, and if it does, it comes in and gets laundered and taken right back out. Likewise, dishes/silverware. Likewise, water buckets and feed tubs. Any flashlights, lanterns, head lamps, etc. likewise stay in the trailer, along with spare batteries. Lawn chairs also stay in the trailer. Our non-hay feed items each go in a bucket with a plastic lid (for us, that's only beet pulp and equine senior), so we can just refill the buckets for each trip. So that means that all we have to do is make sure our own food, clothes, and personal necessities are packed, tack for each horse and rider going are packed, hay is thrown in, and the horses are loaded.
