Digestibility and nutritional delivery are not necessarily the same. Enzymes, which are critical to digestion and health, are present only in *living* cells. Seeds are dormant, but still living. Rolled/crimped seeds have been "killed" and any enzyme component would also be destroyed. Many vitamins in food are destroyed by exposure to light and air (oxidation), including Ascorbic Acid, Carotenoids, B12, folic acid, Vitamins E, A, D and K. Rolling/crimping would definitely destroy vitamins due to oxidation; I don't know how susceptible these vitamins are to light, but over time light would have its negative effect. Horses (and all living critters) need both digestibility and nutrition - but there's no point in being able to digest empty nutrition. ------------------------ Lif Strand, Research Associate Southwest Center for Resource Analysis Western New Mexico University (505) 773-4897 (505) 212-0108 FAX
