Re: [RC] Painful, cold fingers - Sisu West Ranch"...I've got some Thinsulate lined gloves - they're nice leather gloves and I didn't want to wreck them using them as work gloves. I will look for Thinsulate lined work gloves, though - they must make them..." Wells Lamont has been making them since the first year Thinsulate was on the market. Chopper mittens are just big leather mittens. They are available in either unlined versions, where you also buy knit wool liners, or as insulated mittens with really thick fiberfill liners. They are easy to find on work glove displays in MN and WI. There must be web sources as well, you could try Duluth Trading. Another source of big insulated mittens would be Snowmobile clothing suppliers. Snowmobile people use both gloves and mittens depending on how cold. Having spend much of my life in the N Woods, I forget that good sturdy insulated work items can be hard to find. It is unfortunate that our ancestors only lived in cold climates for 20 to 50 thousand years, to short a time to adapt to the cold in other than cultural ways.
