RE: [RC] Painful, cold fingers/arms & legs... - Lori Bertolucci

Remember, if you don't keep your arms and legs warm, you can't expect to keep your hands and feet warm. Make sure you are wearing plenty of warm clothes on your arms, and a pair of thick ragwool gloves with thinsilate liners works wonders. Like Libby said, wool stays warm, wet or dry.

Fishermen's "wet" mittens. Knit an oversize wool mitten and shrink the

Maine Lobstermen soak theirs in the bilge water before they put them on.
They are warm dry or wet. When it's that cold fingers need company. I can do
most chores and ride with the mittens on, but can also whip one off and get
it back on before my fingers freeze, if I need to. Libby

Subject: [RC] Painful, cold fingers

It was 7 below zero this morning, and by the time I was done feeding,
the ends of my fingers were in awful pain. I am wearing those glove
liners with the mylar threads running through them, and rubber gloves
to keep my hands dry (leather gloves get wet fast and are
useless). Believe it or not, down to well below freezing this combo
works fine. However, below zero, the combination isn't so fine at
all. I'd like to know if anyone's got the perfect solution for cold
hands that still allows a person to work with the hands.
