Re: [RC] Knee pain- new topic - Laney HumphreyHi Becke,I'd say the first step would be to identify the cause of the knee pain. A very easy test is to shorten your stirrups one notch. Some people change their stirrup lengths several times during a ride in order to relieve stress. Trying different types of stirrups is also a good idea. Some people find that stiff/heavy western type fenders put stress on their knees. Movin' on up, the twist (width under your crotch)of your saddle might be the culprit. If it's too wide for your hip angulation, it forces all your joints out of line. I have trouble finding saddles with the knee rolls in the right place for my conformation. My knees hit the rolls. Over many miles, if the rolls were hard, that would cause pain! Just like the rest of riding, there isn't a simple answer but there's surely a solution. Cheers, laney BeckeG@xxxxxxx wrote: Since there are many of us older than 30 doing this sport, a couple of us were wondering what everyone does to alleviate knee pain. A friend is doing her first 100 and she has knee pain at 40 miles. So...besides the usual nasaids, etc. what to you all do? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
