Re: [RC] [RC] ? Knee pain- new topic - Tiffany D'VirgilioI'm curious as well. My knees really start hurting at 40 miles. Has anyone tried Surpass? It is the new cream NSAID for horses, but I know of a vet that uses it himself. I am going to try to get some and see how it works. My goal is to do Swanton this year. The 75 and see if my knees hold up. If so, then I can tackle 100s. I have tweaked and broken in my saddle and fenders and this is the best my knees have been. I've been riding primarily Western since I was 2 and I think it has really worn my knees out. My Synergist is totally comfy now, but my knees still ache late in rides. I stretch a lot, ride without stirrups and get off and walk or run parts of the ride. That seems to help. So does Vicodin. I probably couldn't do a ride with none. I have so many old injuries and herniated disks in my neck and back that I really hurt during the latter parts of rides-I'm not even 40 yet! I can only imagine what I have to look forward to, but as long as I can ride, I'll be happy.Tiffany On Mar 3, 2005, at 3:21 PM, Barbara McCrary wrote: Do the hylauronic injections work for you? I remember several year ago, asking my family doctor about glucosamine, chondroitin, and hylauronic acid (HA) for arthritis, and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Of course, we horse people had been administering it to our horses for several years, but the human doctors didn't know about it. Or at least, it wasn't approved for people. So here we are now, taking Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and now.......HA. I'd like to know. I think many doctors are still behind the curve. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
