Re: [RC] sick horse - Laney HumphreySince you wrote here asking for help, you must care for the horse. Imagine if he were an elderly human member of your family. Would you not take that person to the doctor? Do the same for your horse. At 34, he probably has lots of health issues that a good vet can sort out. Until you can get the horse to the vet or the vet can come to you, make sure your horse is getting enough fluids. Beet pulp is an excellent carrier for water because you have to soak it. Make it soupy and put some yummy Equine Senior or other quality pelleted feed formulated for older horses in with it as well as some chopped apples and carrots. His teeth are probably almost non existent so he probably can no longer chew regular food & food that he can slurp without having to chew much would help I would think.BUT, I wouldn't ask my friends to diagnose my mother's ailments, so don't depend on what we say here. Get the advice of a veterinarian! Good luck!
