This is very true. The best way to check your position is to have someone
photograph you riding down a steep hill. Take the photo and turn it so that the
horse looks like it is on level ground. Then look at how you are balanced. A
good downhill horse makes it much easier to stay light in the saddle and
balanced properly. I had one horse that the only way I could describe going
downhill on him was to say it was like being on a skateboard going down the
hill. Smooth as silk. But by riding correctly, you will be able to encourage a
more difficult downhill horse to learn how to use his body and flow down the
hill.
