[RC] Reply to Risk Question & Mileage - Dabney Finch

If by "risk" you mean "risk of not completing" my opinion is higher mileage does increase that risk.

If by "risk" you mean "risk of harm to the horse," then I don't agree higher mileage increases that.

(Sorry I wasn't clear before.  That's what I meant when I said:
"But, horse conditioning, rider expertise--and luck--matter to
/completion/ exponentially, each mile the horse goes after, I think, 35 or so miles.")

Are you saying that a horse going 6 mph for 25 miles is at the same risk as as the same horse on the same day on the same trails with the same rider going 100 mile?


That doesn't make much sense and it is contradictory to the pull rate statistics.
