I remember a 100 miler in Mississippi a long time ago, where the winning time was 7:45.   It was Nina Warren and her horse Amir.  I was there, and it was NOT a short course, but flat.  It wasn't uncommon for that ride to have very fast 50's and 25's either.  I believe that ride would be the Beaver Dam rides.
