Re: [RC] Epics - Lysane Cree

Thanks Candace. I guess I had to find out the hard way :)  It *does* hold together much better when everything is there! I'm going to give the heel strap a try for a couple of days and if it is a problem, then I'll trim it down. Thanks for the help.
The gaiters are quite easy to take off and put back on, so I was happy to see that. When I picked up the boots at Easycare while in Tucson, one person said she didn't recommend taking them off because it was so difficult and a hassle. I thought that was wierd because the company promotes it as being easy to deal with. So I discovered for myself that it is not difficult, not sure what that person was talking about :)  Do you think the same thing with the screws will happen if the gaiter itself is not there, but everything else is (for example, if I decide to ride without the gaiter on a ctr where points are deducted for anything above the coronet band)?

Hi,
When you make alterations to the Easyboot Epics and want to remove the heel strap you need to cut the strap out.  You can not remove the cleats and strap in one piece.  The cleats and that mechanism needs to stay in the boot so that the gaiter will stay on.  As you saw when removing the cleat mechanism there is nothing to prevent the little brass screw thing from pulling right through the boot material.  You can still use the boot without the strap.  Just put everything back together again and cut out the strap approx. 1/2 to 1 inch away from the metal cleat thing.
