==========================================

We used to think that, 20 years ago - until we had more experience with the
treadmill. Our current protocol is to set the speed at 4 mph and the slope
at 1/10 ( 1 foot rise in 10 ft) and put the horses on for an hour. Thereby
they walk 4 miles and climb over 2000 feet. Cardio vascular is rarely the
weak link in our horses and trotting on one of these machines is an easy way
to give a horse a really sore back, as many racehorse trainers have found
out.   Libby>

I've worked with high speed equine treadmills since they were invented. There
are ways to incur sore backs and ways to avoid them. Meanwhile, Specificity is
the first law of conditioning. Finally, I sincerely doubt that you've
encountered "many" racehorse trainers using high speed treadmills. As a
licensed professional, it is your responsibility to deliver accurate
information.
