If it is all verbal, then things can be rough to prove. I always have used, buying and selling, a simple document that outlines: 1. Ownership (papered or not the seller warrents that he/she owns the horse and can sell) 2. State of training (or lack thereof) 3. That verbal statements not in this document have no validity. 4. Prepurchase vet check, yes, no or if delayed how long. 5. Right of return if buyer does not like the horse. Yes, no, how long a time and valid reasons. 6. When title passes (usually when the buyer or agent starts to load the horse, when unloaded if I transport to buyers place.) 7. EIA status (Negative and when) 8. Known vices or lameness issues.
