This is the problem with pellets that I have heard. Lower quality hay
is used in many instances. Beccy in Ut.
*Couple of thoughts.....for some horses, this may be a good
thing...lower protein, they can safely eat more...for
example, who would want alfalfa pellets made out of "dairy quality"
alfalfa?
I would be very hesitant to feed alfalfa pellets for the same reasons I
feel very little alfalfa (protein too high, mineral imbalances).....however,
many feed stores sell a mix of oat hay/alfalfa hay pellets, this seems like
a better mix to me, and if I had a good source of reasonably priced beet
pulp that didn't have molasses added back into it, I would feed quite a bit
of that too....
